Basic Info
Name:桐生 義弥 「 Joshua 」
Location:Shibuya., Japan
Bio

Character: Yoshiya (Joshua) Kiryuu.
Series: The world ends with you.
Version: After the end of week 2, after he transports himself to Tin-Pin land and makes his way to the Room of Reckoning. After hes ran into Blue, Pink, Yellow and Green -- and after he challenges Blue to a Cantus Noise Reduction round to amuse himself.
Age: Debatable. In appearance in his human form, 15. Though of course that isn't his real form and hes significantly...older. Headcanon if accepted goes from the date of the town of Kiryu being formed in Gunma. (Making him 88.)
Gender: Male. Seemingly!
Sexuality: Oh gosh, this is a tl;dr to answer. Joshua... well, hes camp. Highly well spoken and camp. But hes totallynotgayiswear. ...even though he flirts absolutely shamelessly with all members of the male gender, its just a little trick of his to grate on someone just that much more.~
So for sexuality? its a N/A. With what Joshua is (a being created to be impartial and to judge.) I can't see him ever lowering himself to do anything but his job.
Appearance: Joshua (in true form.) is simply an adult-shaped tear in reality. He is remarkably tall and entirely white with gray energy swirling around his body, though whether or not the energy is him or simply the fabric of reality stretching to accommodate him is unknown. When in this form the only ones able of seeing, hearing, and generally percieving him are beings known as Angels, the Reaper Kitaniji Megumi and the Taboo Minamimoto Sho. All others will not know he is there, sense him or even hear his voice when he is in true form.
His human form stands at five foot three and has the appearance of a 15 year old which is slender to the point of looking like he doesn't eat enough and very pale with sharp violet eyes which marr his feminine face -- offsetted ever so slightly by his long eyelashes. He has loosely naturally curled hair which resembles more of a bed-head, the color of which is a natural dark-gray though can show up silver. He is distinctly feminine in human form. Naturally, because of the limitations on this body he is very frail and non-athletic. Attire-wise, Think expensive and he'll wear it. He doesn't care much for jewelry no matter how lavish; and keeps a certain angel feather and modified mobile phone on him at all times.
Personality: Joshua is an extremely intelligent entity. He has a refined taste and knowledge for the world around him. Unfortunately, these traits are often overshadowed by his constant air of what-seems-like-arrogance. He often upsets people. Sadly though, Joshua seems rather sociopathic in the sense that upsetting people with words for him often isn't a matter of not thinking before he speaks, instead thinking through his words to deal as much damage to someone's ego, hopes, or dreams as possible. He does this half the time simply to gauge reaction among the target; and every derogatory verbal remark that comes out of him is aimed at a certain flaw the subject of scrutiny is displaying. One would almost think that Joshua's disregard for peoples feelings is from a hatred of people themselves, when actually its quite the opposite. He exists to make sure that the human race flourishes and advances -- and it is mentioned that the Composer position is one filled out of "unparalleled love for humankind." Quite simply, all of Joshua's actions are all done for the greater good. Joshua doesn't do things for personal benefit -- and even though it seems he does things for a laugh or even to be spiteful its never actually the case. Despite his interpersonal issues, he remains a mature and wise person at heart underneath his attitude.
Joshua's name is actually pretty interesting and relevant to his personality, as we all know that Square-enix likes laying out facts about their characters based on what they are called. There are currently two (religious) theories about Joshua's name. Joshua may be a reference to the biblical figure Joshua, who created the laws and rules that the people of Israel live by and liased with God on their behalf. Similarly, Joshua may be an indirect reference to Jesus. "Jesus" can be translated into the Hebrew "Yeshua," which can be further translated into "Joshua." Also supporting this theory is the story of Sodom and Gomorrah; Jesus and God are the same, and when God considered Sodom and Gomorrah for destruction, Abraham tried to find at least one righteous person in the cities to prove their worth.
Solid fact though is that the kanji of Joshua's Japanese name (桐生 義弥; Kiryu Yoshiya) literally translate from left to right as flower, birth, justice, increasing. This may also refer to his role as creator of the Game and suggests impartiality; which is reflected in his character.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths:
manipulation of matter → This is the act of taking an object from anywhere and causing it to re-appear in an area of his choosing, his favoured spot being about 5 foot above someone or somethings head. When an object is moved, a replacement object will or will not appear in its place depending on Joshua taking the time to Imagine a replacement popping up.

"jesusbeam" / "superjesusbeam" → Joshua can levitate in the air and remain impervious to most attacks while attacking in turn with beams of light from the sky fired roughly at the rate of one a second until a much larger and more powerful beam is fired to finish a combination. Each successive smaller beam inflicts damage, and is finished off by a finisher before Joshua starts over. Depending on need, Joshua can either use the finishing beam to attack a group of targets or use two beams simultaneously to hit everything around him. Joshua does not tend to use this ability much, excepting when he is in dire straits.

telepathy → Joshua is fully capable and able to read the minds of other beings around him, excepting the minds of Angels.

mental manipulation / memory manipulation → Joshua is able to take away segments of other peoples memories and restore them easily. In addition he can manipulate someones memories to what he deems fit, though like telepathy this extrasensory ability is unable to be used on Angels.

plane jumping → Joshua, when overwhelmed -- can jump to other planes to hide. However, thats not fun in RPG! The ability to hop to different planes and different worlds via free will is completely unable to be used.

clairvoyance → Joshua has limited precognition ability. While he cannot see far into the future he is capable of seeing it nonetheless, whether it is a hint to help him with the action he should take now for the best possible outcome or whether it is detecting someone else's attack on him before it actually happens. Part of clairvoyance, Joshua's barrier stops any object or person (barring Angels) a second before it hits him. This ability is not of his doing and simply one of his dormant powers.

form shifting → Joshua is capable of having two forms. They vary substantially from each other in power and appearance -- Joshua is a being that holds an aura similar to that of a radio. He can increase his frequency to maximum power and down to almost nothing simply by focusing. Think of it like a tuning a transistor radio to get to different radio stations.though elegy city has "downtuned" his power so he can only remain in human form. When in human form, Joshua's powers are considerably weakened. He is able to be percepted by humans, reapers and angels alike-- and stands at five foot three. While the term "weakened" is used, hes simply not so much of a haxx as his true form. This form isn't his true one and requires concentration to maintain.

Weaknesses: This is a really hard subject. Joshua's weakness is the fact that he is completely impartial and abides willingly by the outcome of his games. Say, I don't know. A character challenges him to a Game where the penalty of him losing is his existence, and he does indeed lose? He'll willingly abide by the conclusion of the Game. Joshua isn't a liar. While hes definately sly, definately cunning, manipulative and likes to confuse another person into giving up when they ask him something he doesn't want to disclose; his inability to lie can be used as a weakness. Further weaknesses include his attachment to a certain person, Sanae Hanekoma. While knowing that Hanekoma was out of kill him- he doesn't call the other out on that little fact throughout the Game. He even apologizes to him in week 2 over a phonecall, making Sanae Hanekoma the only person he apologizes to in the Game. Period.
As a random note, he sucks ass at Tin Pin Slammer. Really, really sweaty ass. He also really hates Shrew Noise, their bombs and additional knockdown damage associated with them.

History: Joshua is a being known as a "Composer". He is a life-form which is certainly not human and charged with the task of working for the Higher Plane to select potential souls of the deceased on Earth to ascend and become angels, re-incarnate souls which held potential to help society advance and for humanity to become better, and Erase souls of those which will either make society worse or have nothing to contribute to the development of it. To assist him in his task, he devised a "Reapers Game" which is used as a medium to filter out those that would become angels or re-incarnated to have a second chance at life from the unworthy. Strong and worthy (refined) souls pass the game and survive a week of it, and unworthy and tainted souls are Erased from existence. This is where Reapers come in. Reapers of various rank run the Game for Joshua, Ranging from low-rank Support Reapers to Harrier Reapers, Reaper Generals, Game Masters and finally the Conductor himself, Joshua's second in command. The Game occurs in the "Underground" (UG) ; being the term for an area where the Souls can manifest into their bodies again and complete their test fairly and without any of the living knowing about it. The UG influences the real Shibuya (RG) and its people subconciously. Unfortunately though, Shibuya tends to take a bad turn. Shibuya's UG became tainted with the negative feeling and mentality of the people of Shibuya. Violent crime is rising, people are being murdered and slowly, society is going to Hell. As a result, the deceased being tested in the Reapers Game are all worthless, making the numbers of Ascensions and Reincarnations are at a critical low. Joshua decides to Erase the Grounds and Erase Shibuya -- before the negative feelings spread to the other Grounds and make them as useless as Shibuya was becoming.
Joshua's Conductor, Kitaniji Megumi pleads with the Composer for a month to make Shibuya change. Joshua accepts Megumi's proposal, and gives the Conductor a month to change the city. The pair make a bet of it, and Joshua places a timer on his Conductors hand -- ticking down the time frame of a month; second by second. The terms are simple. If Megumi wins and Shibuya changes for the better within the timespace of a month, then Shibuya stays. If Megumi fails to make Shibuya change for the better, then Joshua wins, Shibuya fails to exist and in the eyes of the world it has never existed. To ensure that he remains handicapped, Joshua tunes himself to the RG and stays there, watching the next month from the RG and choosing a Proxy to represent him in the Game. Upon looking for the candidate, Joshua runs into Minamimoto Sho, one of his Reaper Generals, and an individual with the desire to kill him so he can take his spot as Composer and have Joshua's power and position. A gunfight occurs, and it happens in front of a very frightened boy in front of the CAT mural in Udagawa. Weakened in the RG yet still more powerful than Sho, Joshua stops the bullets fired towards him and frightens Sho back to the UG. He then turns to the horrified boy, decides that he'll serve as his Proxy and shoots him dead, giving him a one-way ticket to the UG. He watches from the RG as the boy eventually wins the Reapers Game. Because Shibuya hadn't changed at all, Megumi decides to put the boy through the Game again. This time, Joshua has to leave the RG and pose as a Player in the Game, playing in his weakened human state and risking his life to educate and protect the Proxy. In this week, Minamimoto Sho is Game Master and targets Joshua- hoping to destroy him in the weakened human form hes using to pose as a Player. Joshua and the Proxy eventually defeat him. The Proxy is shielded from Minamimoto's final attack by Joshua, he fakes his death by pushing the Proxy to safety then teleporting to another dimension making the Proxy believe Minamimoto blew himself and Joshua up -- and that Joshua died to save his life.
However. Joshua in fact shoved Neku out of the way and dodged the blast, teleporting to an alternate Plane where of all things, Tin Pin slammer reigns supreme. Making Neku believe that he is dead -- he decides to kill some time in this Plane by well...playing. Then, he waits for Sanae Hanekoma to bring him back to Shibuya in the only place that he is safe; the room of reckoning. For the purposes of this RP, he then discovers a strange door and enters Paixao, much to his dismay.
